Dr. William A. Cooper is a nationally recognized cardiothoracic surgeon, decorated Army veteran, and visionary healthcare leader with over 30 years of experience in clinical care and healthcare innovation.
As the founding Medical Director of Cardiovascular Surgery at WellStar Health Systems, Dr. Cooper built a nationally acclaimed heart program, earning consistent 3-Star ratings from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and Joint Commission Gold Seals for excellence in heart surgery. His expertise spans coronary bypass, valve repair/replacement, and thoracic aortic procedures.
A graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine with an MBA from Emory University, Dr. Cooper combines clinical excellence with business acumen. He is a LEAN Six Sigma Master Black Belt and has been recognized as Georgia Hospital Association Physician Hero and Atlanta Tribune Man of the Year.
Dr. Cooper’s leadership extends beyond the operating room. A sought-after speaker, author, and entrepreneur, he is the founder of Prime Health Services Group and PRIMO Health Partners, a telemedicine platform expanding access to care.
